TORONTO, ON – Ontario’s regulated online gaming market is gaining serious momentum, according to the latest performance snapshot from iGaming Ontario (iGO). The data, analyzed by Casino Rewards Hub, reveals that January 2025 marked a standout month for revenue, engagement, and market stability — indicating that the province’s digital gambling sector is not just growing, but maturing.

Massive Growth in Revenue and Player Base

Ontario recorded $327,900 in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR) for January, a 646% jump from April 2022 — the first full month after iGaming was formally launched in the province. NAGGR reflects total cash wagers, minus winnings paid to players, and excludes bonuses or operating costs.

The number of active player accounts also surged to 1,105 in January, up nearly 300% from the start of regulated play. While the metric doesn’t represent unique users (since individuals may have multiple accounts), it’s a strong indicator of continued user adoption of legal platforms.

High Engagement: Revenue Per Player Nears $300

Another telling indicator is the average revenue per player account (ARPPA), which hit $297 in January — nearing the key $300 threshold. This measure of player value speaks to the level of consumer engagement, trust, and platform performance within the regulated market.

Total Wagers Up 70% in Two Years

Ontario’s iGaming space continues to win player confidence. Total cash wagers, excluding promotional play, reached $7.8 million in January 2025 — up from $4.6 million in January 2023, a 70% increase over two years. This shift illustrates a significant migration of users from grey-market or unregulated sites to secure, licensed platforms.

Ontario Emerges as Regulatory Leader

With over 50 licensed operators and 84 approved websites, Ontario’s iGaming model is drawing international attention for its balance of market openness and consumer protection. It stands out as a national benchmark for provinces considering similar regulatory frameworks.

The January data suggests that Ontario’s success lies not just in raw numbers, but in the sustainability and transparency of its market. Players benefit from a system built on trust, oversight, and accountability, and that framework appears to be paying off.

As Q1 2025 wraps up, Ontario’s iGaming industry looks poised for continued expansion — both in financial returns and public confidence.
