Edmonton Mess: WWE Rumours Swirl as Del Rio Case Gets Even Darker

Del Rio attempted murder scandal_

There is a lot of noise coming out of the wrestling world right now, and one of the biggest stories involves Alberto Del Rio, who is reportedly in serious legal trouble in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

What started as reports of a domestic violence arrest has now escalated into far more serious claims from Mexican media. According to Gabriel Cuevas of Radio Fórmula MX, authorities are looking at allegations that go beyond assault and could involve an attempted homicide investigation. Those are allegations only at this stage, and Del Rio would be presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Reports claim the case centres on Del Rio’s wife, Marie Carmen, and allegations that he believed she was involved with another man. Cuevas reported that Del Rio allegedly threw a training bike at her, destroyed it to stop her from leaving, and that the violence escalated further. Mexican media have also reported that neighbours had contacted police for months over screaming and disturbances, alleging authorities did not step in until now.

Further reports claim Marie Carmen had tried to get help as early as March 2025, but allegedly feared speaking publicly. Those claims remain part of media reporting and court proceedings have not yet determined the facts.

Del Rio is reportedly being held while prosecutors decide what charges to pursue. Reports indicate that one possible charge carries a sentence of one to seven years, while a more serious gender-based violence charge could bring eight to 20 years if convicted. If prosecutors move toward an attempted homicide case and secure a conviction, the legal consequences could be even more severe.

For a man once presented as a major WWE star and 2011 Royal Rumble winner, this is a staggering fall. What used to be a comeback story is now being overshadowed by a criminal case that could permanently damage his career.

As for the WWE side of things, there is also chatter about Booker T being wanted back in a bigger role, but the Del Rio case is the story drawing the most attention right now because of how serious the allegations are.
